The University of North Carolina Wilmington hosted the Student Ambassador Induction and Awards Ceremony on Monday, December 2 – inducting 16 Seahawks into this exceptional group of 35 student leaders.

The Student Ambassador Program is a student organization affiliated with the UNCW Division for University Advancement that celebrates and encourages campus and community engagement by hosting annual events and service projects while contributing to university-wide events including Homecoming, Seahawks Give, donor events and more.

“I love watching these students grow in and out of the organization – watching them harness their leadership and recognize their potential is so rewarding,” said the program’s Advisor Rita Cronin ’23, a former Ambassador and current UNCW Alumni Engagement Coordinator. “I had great advisors in college that built me up and I want to give that same experience to other students with our supportive network of people who truly care about each other’s success and well-being.”

Led by executive board members including President Margo Hinnant ’25, Vice President of Internal Relations Reagan Hunsucker ’28, Vice President of External Relations Katie Purvis ’27, Vice President of Service Hailee Bankhead ’26, Vice President of Programs Jordan Altic ’26, the event kicked off with annual semester awards in recognition of member leadership and contributions to the organization’s mission.

In recognition of her commitment to community service and peer leadership, Sadie Call ’24 received the Superstar Award, an award bestowed upon a senior Ambassador who has shown exceptional dedication and growth.

Appreciating her dedication to go above and beyond, Riana Johnson ’28 was recognized with the Rising Star Award, an award that goes to a new member who has made a significant impact on the Ambassador team.

Nate Baughn ’25 and Corina Cox ’26 received the Community Builder Award, an award that recognizes Ambassadors who make great efforts to connect with others within the Ambassador community. “These two truly make this group feel like family and embody what leadership is all about,” said Cronin.

Additionally, Anna Frederick ’24 received her Senior Sendoff, a recognition of the conclusion of her undergraduate career at UNCW and her leadership as a member of the Ambassadors.

“As Student Ambassadors, you'll have the chance to represent UNCW, connect with prospective students, and contribute to our vibrant campus community,” said Hunsucker. “Your role is crucial in shaping the experiences of future Seahawks and making them feel welcome.”
