Amanda Watson ’18 was awarded the Cone Health Nurse Excellence Award in 2024, a distinction that recognizes 100 nurses in North Carolina who excel in their communities and provide compassionate care. This accolade is peer nominated, highlighting the praise and admiration from her colleagues.
Watson's career journey is a product of her passion for nursing and determination to provide care for others. After graduating high school, Watson became a certified nursing assistant for general surgical practices. She went on to earn her practical nursing degree, allowing her to provide team-oriented nursing care in a cardiac telemetry unit, and worked as a hospice home health licensed practical nurse for 10 years. After earning her registered nursing license, she attended UNCW for her Bachelor's of Science in nursing.
