Jason Mott ’06, ’08M is an accomplished author with a dedication to storytelling. After graduating from UNCW, Mott made a pledge to himself to write one novel a year. He would then submit them to publishers but had little luck moving past this stage. He was then struck by inspiration from a dream where his deceased mother spoke to him as if it were a regular day. Mott then began wondering what would happen if the dead returned to their lives and families as if it were a normal day. His novel, The Returned, explores this idea and it was a New York Times bestseller. It was also adapted into an ABC show as Resurrection.
Mott currently has seven books published that explore the complex emotions surrounding grief, love and change. His powerful storytelling shares rural North Carolina from the lens of the supernatural.
