Meredith Connelly ’11 has been making waves in the art world with her stunning illuminated sculptures and intricate cut-paper works. Her latest feature in SouthPark Charlotte highlights her first permanent outdoor installation, “Fairy Ring,” at Atherton in South End, where over 100 glowing mushroom sculptures enchant visitors of all ages.

Blending science, nature, and technology, Connelly has built a career centered around light — both in large-scale 3D installations and her 2D cut-paper series, “Works for Walls.” Her intuitive process and dedication to organic forms have led to exhibitions at the Cain Center for the Arts in Cornelius and the McColl Center, where she recently curated an exhibition titled Sovereign.

Connelly’s unique artistic approach and medium continues to captivate audiences, proving that simple materials like recycled paper can become immersive, thought-provoking art.

Connelly is a graduate of the UNCW College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts (CHSSA). Learn more about CHSSA news, programs, events, and more. To explore more of Connelly’s work, visit her website, follow her career journey and connect with her on LinkedIn.
