The Concord University Board of Governors announced April 18 the unanimous selection of the university’s 13th president, Bethany Meighen ’15 Ph.D.

Holding multiple degrees in education, including an Ed.D. from UNCW, Dr. Meighen has a decade of experience at the system level in higher education. Most recently, she has served as the UNC System’s Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. Meighen also held a key position as chief student affairs officer and a liaison between the UNC System Office and its 17 constituent institutions.

Meighen has dedicated her career to advancing student success and fostering innovation, focusing on improving access to education and enhancing the student experience.

“Concord University is making a meaningful difference in the lives of its students, the surrounding communities, and beyond — a mission I’m eager to use all my energy and experience to support and advance,” said Meighen. “I look forward to working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the entire campus community to build on the university’s strong foundation and help shape its future in the years to come.”
