Last year, Margot Wattu ’23 — production assistant for the Worcester Red Sox — received the 2024 YES Award for the production department.
The YES Awards — which were established by the Worcester Red Sox in 2022 — are given to employees who best embody WooSox culture of exceptional fan service, love and the word “yes.” Red Sox President Dr. Charles Steinberg says, “Larry Lucchino [WooSox chairman and principal owner] for decades has proclaimed that we are in the ‘yes business.’ There’s always a way to help somebody, there’s always a way to help a charity, there’s always a way to figure out a solution to a problem. And the little word ‘yes,’ we understand to be one of the most powerful words of helpfulness and kindness.”
According to Steinberg, the YES Award is a not only a special recognition of hard work and dedication, but a simple reminder that validates the qualities that are the reason employees are on the WooSox team in the first place.
During her time as production assistant, Wattu supported pregame, in-game, live broadcasts and event production through an array of positions including operation of TV graphics, camera shading, and in-game replay.
While attending UNCW, she earned her bachelor’s in communications studies and was an active member of the Communication Studies Society and Hawks Nest Production.
