Ashlyn Burke-Metheny ’05 produced an ESPN documentary, “The Buddy Way” with Peyton Manning’s production company Omaha Productions — premiering on Jan. 29 on ESPN2.
“The Buddy Way” is a feature-length documentary on the historic life and career of Coach Eugene F. “Buddy” Teevens III ’79. Directed by Rory Karpf and executive produced by Peyton Manning, the film showcases Teevens’ four-decade coaching career, his role at the Manning Passing Academy, and his innovations in coaching — including hiring female coaches and promoting safer tackling.
Burke-Metheny has over 20 years of experience in the events industry, film and entertainment. She owns her own event planning company, Ashlyn Burke Events — which has earned her a nomination for Best Event Planner in the 2025 Best of Wilmington Magazine.
While attending UNCW, she earned her B.A. in communication studies and was a part of the Seahawk Club Council. She also worked as a sports marketing assistant for the UNCW athletics department.
