
Hawk Hands: Nathan Baughn ’26

YOUR SEAHAWK EXPERIENCE
Why did you choose to attend UNCW?
- I choose UNCW because of the campus. My brother is an alumni as well!
What is your favorite place on campus?
- My favorite place on campus is the porch of the Clock Tower Lounge.
What campus student organizations are you part of (outside of Ambassadors)?
- I am involved with the Varsity Sales Team in the Cameron School of Business, the Chancellor's Student Advisory Council, and the UNCW Yacht club. I am also a Marketing Intern with Campus Life.
What is an accomplishment at UNCW that you are proud of?
- My proudest accomplishment at UNCW is being a Co-Founder and President of the UNCW Yacht club!
How do you balance your work/school responsibilities with your personal life?
- I use a calendar to schedule and stay on top of my assignments.
How have you grown during your time at UNCW?
- Through my time at UNCW, I have grown by taking steps outside of my confront zone. These opportunities have allowed me to not only grow personally but professionally. I now look at challenges and setbacks as opportunities for growth.
Where do you see yourself after graduation?
- Upon graduation I plan to pursue a career in medical device sales.
What is the best piece of advice you have received?
- The best piece of advice I have received is "What if it can turn out better than you could ever imagine?" Be willing to take that step outside of your comfort zone –– you never know where it might take you.
What advice do you have for students looking to be involved on campus?
- Do not be discouraged. Being involved has been the staple point of my success as a student.
YOUR AMBASSADOR EXPERIENCE
Why did you decide to become an Ambassador with the Division of Advancement?
- I decided to become an Ambassador because I wanted to expand my involvement!
What is an accomplishment with the Ambassadors that you are most proud of?
- An accomplishment that I am proud of is being able to attend the Donor Holiday Reception where we celebrated the generous giving of our donors.
How has being an Ambassador set you up for success after graduation?
- Being an Ambassador has allowed me to connect with countless individuals who are very successful and offer wonderful advice.
What advice would you share with your peers about getting involved with Advancement events and campaigns?
- Make the most of your time. Go to the events and campaigns –– they are so much fun –– and you get to interact and meet amazing individuals who want to learn about student life.
What has being an Ambassador taught you about philanthropy and giving back to UNCW (through time, talent & treasure)?
- Through my involvement with Ambassadors, I have seen firsthand how important giving is to student success.
