YOUR SEAHAWK EXPERIENCE
Why did you choose to attend UNCW?
- The opportunities at this university are endless! I also felt right at home when I stepped onto campus and knew it was the place I needed to be.
What does it mean to you to be a Seahawk?
- Being a Seahawk means continuing to learn, grow, and never stop –– wherever you are in life!
What is your favorite place on campus?
- My favorite place on campus is probably Chancellors Walk! So many fun events take place there –– you talk to your friends on the way to class and get to enjoy the views of campus.
What campus student organizations are you part of?
- I am the Honors College Ambassador Coordinator and the Director of Community Service and Philanthropy for Chi Omega. I also do undergraduate research!
What is an accomplishment at UNCW that you are proud of?
- An accomplishment that I am proud of is speaking at the Like No Other Campaign Celebration. I spoke about my time at UNCW and what it has meant to me. Through this opportunity, I now truly understand the meaning of community and appreciate my donor-funded scholarships more than I ever have before!
How do you balance your work/school responsibilities with your personal life?
- This might sound counterintuitive, but I just keep getting more involved. I am constantly making connections and finding people that are so willing to help me whenever needed. Without the people around me that I found through getting involved, I would have no one to push me forward and help me when I fall.
How have you grown during your time at UNCW?
- I have grown personally, professionally, and especially as a leader during my time at UNCW. Through campus activities I have been able to grow and gain leadership positions that have taught me how to manage a group of people and just be an overall better leader. Through classes I have gained close connections with faculty and staff that I would not have had if I did not attend UNCW.
Where do you see yourself after graduation?
- I plan to go to graduate school! I am not exactly sure where yet, there are so many options to explore!
What advice do you have for students looking to be involved on campus?
- The best thing to do is get involved early. You will be able to make so many important connections by getting involved and the best way to do that is start right when you get to UNCW!
YOUR AMBASSADOR EXPERIENCE
Why did you decide to become an Ambassador with the Division of Advancement?
- I was an Ambassador at my high school, so when I got to college it was something that I wanted to continue to do. I also met some ambassadors at my freshman orientation who pushed me to get involved, and that was the best decision I have ever made.
What is an accomplishment with the Ambassadors that you are most proud of?
- This event has not happened yet, but the accomplishment that I am most proud of will probably be Oozeball 2025. I have been working towards planning this event since last July! This is a very large event and is actually the 30th year of Oozeball! With this large of an event, I am proud that I have worked for months to finally see it come to life!
How has being an Ambassador set you up for success after graduation?
- Through Ambassadors, I have gained lots of interview experience and leadership skills. These real-life skills will help me to be able to succeed after graduation.
What advice would you share with your peers about getting involved with Advancement events and campaigns?
- Connect with anyone and everyone! There are so many different opportunities and people that would love to speak with you! Put yourself out there at events because you never know what kind of connection you could make and how it could help you later in life.
What advice would you share with your peers about getting involved with Advancement events and campaigns?
- I have grown to love and appreciate philanthropy through living and breathing the truth behind why it is so important. Without giving back to UNCW and other organizations, there would not be as many opportunities for students like me to pursue the career they desire. I have also shared my love of philanthropy with my sorority. I have been given the tools to share with people about why we should be excited about philanthropy and why it is important.
