YOUR SEAHAWK EXPERIENCE

Why did you choose to attend UNCW?
  • I chose to attend UNCW because of its strong connection to the community, which provides opportunities to advance my academic career through active involvement. With its reputation for academic excellence, I knew UNCW would be the perfect place to foster personal and professional growth.
What does it mean to you to be a Seahawk?
  • Being a Seahawk means more to me than just bleeding teal, navy, and gold. It’s about representing UNCW through academic excellence, serving as a mentor dedicated to fostering intentional relationships with students and professors, and engaging in service that reaches beyond our campus. To be a Seahawk is to soar high.
What is your favorite place on campus?
  • My favorite place on campus is the Problem-Based Learning Center study rooms located in Veterans Hall.
What campus student organizations are you part of (outside of Ambassadors)?
  • In addition to being an Ambassador I am a member of the Honors College, an Academic Achievement Peer Mentor, and serve as Chapter President of Eta Sigma Gamma, a Public Health National Honor Society.
What is an accomplishment at UNCW that you are proud of?
  • One accomplishment at UNCW that I’m particularly proud of is my role as Eta Sigma Gamma Chapter President. As a dedicated public health student and leader of this respected and growing honor society, I had the opportunity to witness firsthand the positive impact of giving back to my community. I also saw how community involvement can influence not only others but myself as well.
How do you balance your work/school responsibilities with your personal life?
  • I balance my work, school responsibilities, and personal life by keeping a structured schedule and prioritizing tasks to manage my time effectively.
How have you grown during your time at UNCW?
  • Since my freshman year at UNCW, I’ve experienced substantial growth both academically and personally. By building meaningful relationships with professors, I’ve learned the importance of keeping an open mind, giving back to the community, and taking initiative.
Where do you see yourself after graduation?
  • I plan on furthering my academic career by attending graduate school, working toward my goal of becoming a physician.
What is the best piece of advice you have received?
  • The best piece of advice I have received is to never let rejection hold you back from applying for a potential opportunity. Rejection is just a part of the journey, and it’s important to trust the process. Every experience, whether successful or not, is an opportunity for growth and learning.
What advice do you have for students looking to be involved on campus?
  • I understand getting involved can be intimidating as a first year, but make sure to explore as many organizations as possible. You might be surprised by what you end up enjoying.

YOUR AMBASSADOR EXPERIENCE

Why did you decide to become an Ambassador with the Division of Advancement?
  • Having experienced the positive impact I made as a Student Ambassador in high school, I wanted to create a similar influence as a college student within the UNCW community. I recognized that being a Student Ambassador would not only enhance my involvement at UNCW but also allow me to represent the university with the utmost respect and honor.
What is an accomplishment with the Ambassadors that you are most proud of?
  • I’m most proud of fostering a strong sense of community through the Ambassador Program. By attending Advancement events, I’ve had the opportunity to network and engage in conversations with individuals, gaining unique perspectives along the way.
How has being an Ambassador set you up for success after graduation?
  • Being an Ambassador has provided necessary communication skills, professional development, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with diverse groups of people. It has also taught me how to effectively represent an organization, manage responsibilities, and collaborate in team settings, all of which are crucial for my future career.
What advice would you share with your peers about getting involved with Advancement events and campaigns?
  • Sign up for as many events as possible! Each one offers a unique opportunity to connect with your peers, UNCW staff, and respected community members.
What has being an Ambassador taught you about philanthropy and giving back to UNCW (through time, talent & treasure)?
  • Being an Ambassador has taught me invaluable lessons about philanthropy and giving back to UNCW. I’ve learned the importance of using my skills and resources to make a meaningful impact, whether through volunteering at events or representing the university. Giving requires commitment and drive, which are nurtured through sharing knowledge, building lasting connections, and recognizing the value of both small and large contributions to the community as a whole.
